Biography
Jacob Clark is a classical pianist and music producer originally from Essex. Deciding to pursue a career in music at the age of 16, Jacob began studying with Italian concert pianist Antonio Morabito through the Royal College of Music.
Since then, he has performed in venues internationally and across the UK. He has also placed highly in a number of competitions, most recently as the winner of the 2025 Leeds Besbrode Piano Competition and First Prize at the 6th Fanny Mendelssohn International Competition.
Jacob made his international debut at the age of 17, when he was invited to perform at the Di Menna Centre for Classical Music in New York, as part of the Gala Recital of the 2022 International Youth Music Competition Atlanta. Most recently he performed at the Fundación Eutherpe Sala de Conciertos in León, Spain.
Jacob studied Classical Performance and Music Production at the Leeds Conservatoire, where he received tutorage from the English pianist Eleanor Hodgkinson. During his time at the Conservatoire, he participated in masterclasses with Balázs Fülei and James Kirby.
TEACHING
Jacob's teaching career began shortly after he started studying with his teacher Antonio. By 17, Jacob had established himself as a piano teacher, giving lessons to students of all ages and levels.
Jacob's approach to teaching takes influence from critical pedagogy and revolutionary education with his main inspiration coming from the Brazilian pedagogue Paulo Freire. His other inspirations include: Miyamoto Musashi, Frédéric Chopin, and Antonio Morabito.
Whilst studying at the Leeds Conservatoire, Jacob performed highly in his pedagogy course, receiving distinctions in all of his work related to module.
Jacob's goal in his teaching is to encourage a creative approach towards the understanding and discovery of music and musical technique. He does this through a dialogical approach to the learning and development of pianistic technique, and by encouraging problem solving and critical thinking in order to allow for his students to understand the reasoning behind the way he approaches the piano.
